Holly Area Schools has once again opened its doors to all students who are residing in Oakland Schools, Oakland County. This action was made possible by legislation that allows Schools of Choice in Michigan. Under this legislation parents may send their children to Holly Area Schools without permission from their home school district. Transportation to Holly Area Schools will be the responsibility of the parent.
Holly Area Schools is dedicated to providing a safe learning environment, where each student is encouraged to do his or her personal best. Strong in academics, we also believe we are educating our future leaders and neighbors.
Parents are partners. We never lose sight of whose children we’re educating. Using technology to provide updates on everything from daily progress, attendance, and lunch accounts, Holly added Connect-Ed, an automated calling system to alert parents to emergencies within minutes. It’s also a handy reminder for the 3rd grade field trip the next day.
Holly’s community supports our school district, passing three building improvements bonds since 2003. More renovations are planned for summer 2006.
Our district consists of four K-5 elementary schools, and offers alternate full-day kindergarten. For parents needing a full week option, programs are offered to accommodate for a reasonable fee. Richter Intermediate is the 6th grade program, housed as a school within a school. Middle school consists of 7th-8th, and the high school rounds out 9th-12th education. Also, pre-school services are offered as well as programs for students with special needs.
Our high school program is run on trimesters. We can meet the new high school requirements, and still provide students with choices in electives, and the ever popular AP courses. Teachers are skilled at challenging the high achieving students. While students pursue multiple options after graduation, in 2005 our students were awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships for higher education.
For the struggling learner, counseling, tutoring and instructional design are combined for support. Honoring the individual learner’s path is key to our success.
Offering 30+ sports, Holly has achieved championship status in tennis, along with many district and regional titles. Recognition for Outstanding Sportsmanship from local rivals, however, tells the rest of the story. Coupled with an award-winning band program, show choir, a thriving thespian community, and a robotics club, activities to express individual talents and interests abound!
Surrounded by 124 square miles of beautiful countryside, Holly blends modern advances with small town charm. Proud to serve northwest Oakland county, our district produces MEAP scores above county and state averages.
