System Support Specialist
Full time position: 12 months
Proposed Start Date: June 1, 2008
Summary: To provide skilled analysis and execution of problem resolutions in maintaining the district’s workstation operating systems.
Qualifications:
- A+ Certification;
- Associate’s degree with a specialization in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent is preferred; commensurate technical knowledge and skill is required;
- Proficiency and experience is required with: software applications to include but not limited to Microsoft Windows 2000/XP desktop environment; workstation imaging solutions; server operating systems to include but not be limited Microsoft Windows and Novell OES; Linux experience is a plus; internet applications/browsers to include but not be limited to IE, Firefox and advanced messaging applications (Groupwise) etc;
- Proficiency and experience is preferred with operating system streaming solutions, such as Ardence and Wyse Streaming Manager; Ability to perform duties whether working independently or as part of a team;
- Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong oral, written and listening skills;
- Minimum of three (3) years working as tech support in a K-12 school district preferred;
- Exemplary attendance and punctuality required;
- Excellent organizational and follow though skills required.
Duties and Responsibilities: The individual shall work in conjunction with the Technology Department to: determine needs and identify best solutions for Microsoft Windows applications through regular and on-going consultation with building administrators, the Technology department, and end-users; create, deploy and manage operating system images; manage and coordinate district’s licensing status; create and maintain an inventory of current licenses; solicit, analyze, recommend, and implement distribution of new licenses; manage and coordinate the district’s technology equipment recycling; create and maintain an accurate inventory of technology assets; properly secure the workstation operating system and applications against unauthorized access; monitor and address computer security threats such as viruses, email SPAM and Malware; maintain knowledge of Microsoft applications and operating system architectures, security issues, and computer hardware; facilitate the efficient connectivity between the district network, workstations and peripherals; adjust workstation hardware and software for optimal performance, as needed; procure, monitor and maintain the district’s printer and copiers – stand-alone or networked.
Holly Area Schools offers a competitive benefit and salary package. The salary is commensurate with education and experience and falls in the range of $32,000 - $38,000.
